How we share your data

4.1 With brokers and landlords

This is the part most people want to know about, so we will be precise.

When we search for homes for you, we share with brokers and landlords only the details of the home you are looking for. That means your requirement: city, localities, budget range, configuration, furnishing, move-in timeline, household composition, pet, and similar preferences.

We do not share your name, mobile number, email address, or any other personally identifying contact detail with brokers or landlords.

You remain in control of contact. When you receive your shortlist, you decide which brokers or landlords to contact, and when. No broker or landlord receives your contact details from us in order to approach you.

4.2 With service providers

We use the following third-party processors to run the Platform. They access personal data only to perform services for us, under contract, and may not use it for their own purposes.

4.3 Other disclosures

We may disclose personal data where we are required to do so by law, by a court, or by a government or regulatory authority, or where it is necessary to protect our rights, prevent fraud, or ensure the safety of our users.

If our business is involved in a merger, acquisition, or transfer of assets, your data may be transferred as part of that transaction. We will notify you if that happens and if it materially changes how your data is handled.

4.4 What we never do

We do not sell your personal data. We do not rent, trade, or otherwise make it available to third parties for their own marketing.

05

Communications and marketing

We will contact you by WhatsApp, SMS, email, and in-app notification.

Service messages relate to your requirement: OTPs, payment and refund confirmations, your shortlist, updates on homes we have found, and support replies. These are necessary to deliver the service you paid for.

Marketing messages tell you about new features, offers, and updates. You can opt out at any time by:

  • clicking unsubscribe in any marketing email,
  • replying STOP on WhatsApp, or
  • writing to hey@renteazy.co.

Withdrawing consent for marketing will not affect service messages relating to an active requirement, and will not affect the lawfulness of processing carried out before you withdrew.

06

How long we keep your data

We retain your personal data for 12 months from the date you first create your account. After that period we either archive the data in a restricted form or delete it, depending on what is appropriate and what applicable law requires.

We may retain certain records for longer where we are legally required to, for example transaction and tax records, or where data is needed to establish, exercise, or defend a legal claim. Such records are kept only for as long as that purpose requires.

Your shortlist and paid requirement remain accessible to you for a maximum of 3 months from the date of payment, as set out in our Terms of Service.

07

Your rights

Under the DPDP Act, you have the right to:

  • Access a summary of the personal data we hold about you and how we process it.
  • Correct inaccurate or misleading data, complete incomplete data, and update your data.
  • Erase your personal data where it is no longer needed for the purpose it was collected for, and where we are not required by law to retain it.
  • Withdraw consent at any time where our processing is based on consent, including consent to marketing.
  • Nominate another individual to exercise these rights on your behalf in the event of your death or incapacity.
  • Grievance redressal, by raising a complaint with us as set out in Section 10.

To exercise any of these rights, email hey@renteazy.co from the email address registered on your account, or contact our Grievance Officer. We will respond within the timelines prescribed by applicable law.

Please note that deleting your data while a paid requirement is active may prevent us from delivering the service, and the refund terms in our Terms of Service will apply.

08

Cookies and similar technologies

We use cookies and similar technologies to keep you signed in, remember your progress through the requirement form, understand how the Platform is used, and measure the performance of our advertising.

These include:

  • Essential cookies, needed for the Platform to function, including session and authentication cookies.
  • Analytics cookies, used by PostHog to understand usage patterns.
  • Advertising cookies, used by Meta to measure the performance of our campaigns.

You can control or block cookies through your browser settings. Blocking essential cookies may prevent parts of the Platform from working.

09

Security

We take reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your personal data, including:

  • encryption of data in transit using HTTPS;
  • hosting on AWS infrastructure in India with access controls;
  • restricting access to personal data to authorised personnel who need it to do their work;
  • one-time password verification for account access, so no password is stored;
  • not storing full payment credentials on our systems.

No method of transmission or storage is completely secure. While we work to protect your data, we cannot guarantee absolute security. If a personal data breach occurs, we will notify you and the Data Protection Board of India as required under the DPDP Act.
